How to choose ev charger?
Having a hard time finding the perfect charger for your electric car? With so many models and specifications, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Don't worry, I'm here to simplify the process and give you some important information about electric car chargers.

When it comes to electric car chargers, there are a few important components to consider: the outlet, the vehicle plug, the cable, and the control unit. Let's start by understanding the differences between the plugs.

The car plug comes in two main standards: type 1 (SAE J1772) and type 2 (IEC 62196-2). Type 1 chargers have 5 pins, while Type 2 chargers have 7 pins. The reason for this distinction is due to the different electrical systems in each country. In countries like the United States and Japan, where single-phase power is common in homes, Type 1 chargers are used. On the other hand, in European countries, which usually have three-phase current, type 2 chargers are used.In contrast, in European countries, which usually have three-phase current, type 2 chargers are used. It's worth noting that all Morec products comply with the Type 2 standard, ensuring compatibility and safety for European consumers.

As for the socket, there are different types in European countries, including the Schuko plug, the CEE plug and the UK plug. For portable chargers for electric cars, the Schuko plug is usually used, for which a maximum current of 16 amps is recommended. It's important to comply with this limit to ensure electrical safety. However, for higher power chargers, such as those used at home or at public charging stations, CEE plugs are used. These plugs can handle currents of 16 amps, 32 amps, 16 amps three-phase and 32 amps three-phase and provide a higher level of safety and convenience.

Now let's move on to the cable. The cable diameter varies depending on the amperage. A 16-amp current requires a cable with a diameter of 10.5 square millimeters,  while a 16-amp three-phase current uses a cable with a diameter of 13.5 square millimeters. For 32-amp currents, both single-phase and three-phase, the cable diameter remains at 13.5 square millimeters, while a 32-amp three-phase current requires a slightly larger cable diameter of 16.5 square millimeters.

When selecting a charger from Morec, you can rest assured that our products adhere to European standards.
